Yoga
The word yoga means "union" in Sanskrit. Sanskrit is the language of ancient India where yoga originated. We can think of the union occurring between the mind, body and spirit.
While yoga involves stretching, it's really about creating balance in the body by developing strength and flexibility. This is done through the performance of poses or postures, each of which has specific physical benefits.
Increasingly, adults who wish to attain and maintain optimum fitness are turning to yoga. For those inclined to avoid forms of exercise that jar their spines and place unnecessary strain on their hips, knees and ankles, yoga is a conscious choice to keep themselves healthy and productive in a gentler yet equally or more effective form of exercise. Yoga should be done mindfully, that is with full attention given to the breath and movement being done."
